Bangkok: Noppharat Ratchathani (2023)
Technique /Materials : Printed Matter

"Bangkok: Noppharat Ratchathani" is designed to commemorate the 241st anniversary of Bangkok. The design was inspired by the full name of Thailand's capital city, "Krung Thep Mahanakhon Bovorn Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayutthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udom Ratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit", which was denoted the longest city name in the world by the Guinness Book of Records. "Bangkok: Noppharat Ratchathani" is a practice-based research grounded in communication design. It draws upon knowledge gained from studying the full name and history of the creation of Bangkok to design a new Thai typeface that builds upon the American Ideal Proportion diamond shape cut grid system. The typeface is arranged on a map of Rattanakosin Island, using the full name of the city of Bangkok to create a unique and original design. Therefore, the result was designed as planned as a Bangkok City type map.
